Development Projects

There is a proposal for a crematory on the table.  Steven Allen gave a presentation to the board and a few Oliver residents on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 expressing that he would like to open up a crematory in Oliver. He has not purchased the property yet, but has approached Robert Stokes, who directed him to the Oliver Community Association. What are you thoughts?

State Supply Building – Shut down in the 90’s. Vacant ever since. .96 acre lot

Harford – Biddle Housing -. Purchased this property in October, 2016 under business name Central and Preston LLC.

These projects, developers assert, will help increase property values and energize the community. Also, that increased population can have positive impacts.

Personally, I am not fond of the idea of a crematory in our community. I think it is better suited in a commercial district rather than a residential community.

I am a new Oliver homeowner. I bought this house with the hope that the neighborhood will attract more people who care. I applaud you for having this community association where neighbors come together to take care of the community. It is by working together, keeping our neighborhood safe and clean, and doing gardens and beautification projects, that we attract other families. But a crematory is definitely not one of the things that would attract anyone to the community. I strongly oppose a crematory. I think that’s not good for the development of the neighborhood. Thank you for taking our opinions into consideration.
