OCA election, Spring 2017!


On June 15, 2017, Oliver residents will be voting for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer to represent the Oliver Community Association (OCA), at its upcoming June election. You must have attended three meetings, since June 2016.
You may not believe it, but the election of officers in your community association can be just as important, if not more, than the elections held for the city council, mayor, governor, or maybe even the president of the United States. How can that be?  Before I became involved in my community association, I never realized the access that communities have to resources to improve their communities. Additionally, there are a host of organizations that receive funding to help empower and improve communities that need the assistance.  I also learned about the vast amount of funding that is available to our communities for recreation, housing, beautification, youth, you name it!  There is a lot of money out there!  We just need to take advantage of it and apply for it.  It’s not that difficult to receive.
To nominate someone or yourself, please submit your letter of intent addressed to the Board of Oliver via email only to olivercommunitybaltimore@gmail.com. Remember to bring your supporters to the March, April and May meetings.

This is where you come in. There will be an election held on June 15, 2017, (originally May 18, 2017), 6:30 pm for the Oliver Community Association (OCA), 1400 Federal Street, for the offices of president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and for seats on the Board of Directors.  In order to vote, you must fulfill the following requirements:


Voting RULES:

  1. Live in the Oliver community         – OR –

  2. Own property in the Oliver community (business or residential)


  1. Have attended at least 3 Oliver Community Association (OCA) meetings between June 2016 and May 1, 2017.

  2. Must be 18 years of age or older


If you have not attended any OCA meetings, be sure to attend at least 3 meetings since June 2016, to be eligible to vote on June 15, 2017 (originally May 18, 2017).

Would you like to run for a position on the Board of Directors for the Oliver Community Association, or for an office?  The same rules above, apply. Or you can nominate someone who you think would be great for the position! These are non-paid, volunteer positions.
